Duchess Sophie's Chic Cut-Out Dress Comes with a Subtle Nod to Royal History

Last week, the Duchess of Edinburgh paid a visit to volunteers at the Paramount Foundation and showed up in a look that was both sophisticated and seasonally smart. The royal opted for the Guipure Lace Midi Shirtdress by British designer Erdem. Made from breathable cotton, the dress features a floaty midi-length skirt, a simple stand collar and delicate cut-outs throughout.

And while the look is clearly fit for a royal, it was inspired by one, too. This isn’t the first time Sophie has leaned into breezy, cut-out silhouettes this summer. Earlier this month, on June 2, she attended an Afternoon Tea event at the Castle Hotel in Windsor to honor women of distinction—and looked radiant doing so.

She wore the Victoria Broderie Dress by Aspiga, a sustainable London-based brand. The powder blue number featured a flattering drop-tiered skirt, a deep V-neck, delicate lace trim and subtle floral cut-out details along the sleeves—all made from lightweight cotton.
