Every spring when the weather becomes 10 degrees warmer and Angelenos can take off their puffy coats, I feel the imperative to leave the house and get active. Yes, driving around spying interesting sights and gorgeous vistas is fine, but in order to justify the high rents, natural perils and traffic jams when there’s a show at the Bowl, I force myself to do something culturally or physically enriching. I treat myself like a tourist, is what I’m saying. And I never regret it. Here’s a list of the 15 Los Angeles tourist attractions that actually pay off for locals--like the hearty hike to the Griffith Park Observatory and views you’re rewarded with, the fresh air high you feel at the swan paddleboats in Echo Park, the glorious Art Deco designs and movie star history at Hollywood Forever, world-class art at the Broad and more.
